Day 1 Luang Prabang – City
Tour
Upon arrival at Luang Prabang Airport, you are met and
transferred to the hotel. Luang
Prabang is one of the best-preserved traditional city in Southeast Asia. The transquility and charm of this town
with its splendid natural scenery and cultural sites make it one of the most
delightful places to visit in Laos.
After a short rest, we visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun
& Makmo with a rounded dome that's stylistically more Silankalese
than Lao. It is more commonly known as That Makmo or 'Watermelon Stupa'
because of its semi-spherical shape. Then visit the shrine of Wat Aham and
Wat Mai Suvannaphumaha, a residence of the Sangkhalat (Supreme Patriarch of
Lao Buddhism) at one time; we then climb up 328 steps to the top of Phousi
Hill for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as
beautiful sunset and panoramic view of the city and the Mekong River.
Return to the hotel and
having dinner at Xiengkeo Restaurant, the Mekong riverside
restaurant of The Grand Luang Prabang Hotel. After dinner, leisure time, such as take a free hotel
shuttle van service to town and visit Night Market for walking or
shopping lots of souvenir.
Day 2 Out of Town - Unspoiled Natures
In early morning, watching or participating in giving alms
to hundreds monks and novices, the unique traditional custom of people living
in Luang Prabang after that return to The Grand Luang Prabang hotel to having
breakfast.
After breakfast at The
Grand Luang Prabang hotel, we enjoy a short-guided tour seeing the city’s
oldest temple of Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong, the royal temple, the most
important temple in Luang Prabang, is located near the northern tip of the
peninsula formed by the Mekong and Khan rivers. King Saisetthathirat built Wat
Xieng Thong’s sim in 1560, and the compound remained under royal patronage
until 1975. The sim represents
what is considered classic Luang Prabang temple architecture, with roofs that
sweep low to the ground (the same style – part of the Lan Xang-Lanna
legacy). The rear wall of the sim
features an impressive ‘tree of life’ mosaic set in a red background.
We then board a cruise
upstream 25kilometers from town along the Mekong River, a beautiful view of the
tranquil countryside as well as an interesting visit to the mysterious of Pak-Ou
Caves, two caves in the lower part of a limestone cliff facing the river,
crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and
sizes. On the way, we stop at
the rice wine village, Ban Xang Hai, means Jar-Maker Village because at
one time that was the cottage industry here. Now the villagers produce local Lao liquor (rice wine).
Return to Luang Prabang
by boat, then have lunch at Laos restaurant (Pak Houei Mixay)
then we take a drive 30 Kilometers from town to visit Kwang Si Falls, a
wide, many tiered waterfall tumbling over limestone formations into a series of
cool, turquoise pools.
On the way return to Luang Prabang,
visit to Ban Phanom, a cotton & silk hand-weaving village populated by Lu minority,
originally from Xishuanbanna in Southern China.
Return to town and Dinner
at local restaurant in town (Indochina Spirit) then go back to The Grand
Luang Prabang hotel.
Day 3 Giving alms- Wat Xieng Thong- Morning
market
After
breakfast at hotel, visit Luang Prabang
Royal Palace Museum and Haw
Kham, means Golden Hall, built in 1904, early French colonial era – as a
residence for King Sisavang Vong and his family. The museum displays a lovely
collection of person artifacts of the Royal family, photos, musical instruments
and gifts received from foreign countries. In the right front corner room of
the palace, which opens to the outside, is a collection of the museum’s most
prized art, including the Pha Bang (or Pra Bang), the most sacred Buddha image
of Luang Prabang. In the northeast
corner of the museum compound, a highly ornate religious pavilion, called the Haw
Pha Bang, are the proper place of Pha Bang situated.
Then going to visit Central Market, the Luang Prabang’s
main market, for shopping some traditional souvenirs and have Lunch at
local restaurant (Mixayphon).
After visiting these sights in the morning, you will have free time for your
own exploration of the town and strolling around the shopping area. The tour ends after your transfer to
the airport for departure/or going back to the hotel.

"Visa on arrival" at Luang Prabang Airport when you arrive by
